Digital Media Education
In October, SEED demonstrated its ongoing support for digital media education by awarding a $1,900 grant to Eric Salmonsen, Social Studies teacher at Dover High School (DHS). The grant enabled the expansion of the school's podcasting equipment, specifically adding a new mixer that increases the club's technical capabilities from two to multiple microphone inputs.
“The Current” podcast, a student-driven initiative, has experienced significant growth in recent years, culminating in a featured presentation at the prestigious Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference. This podcast, created by students for students, has become an integral part of the school's media landscape, with teachers incorporating new episodes into advisory periods.
The podcasting club maintains an inclusive environment, welcoming both regular members and rotating guest participants. By providing students with a platform for creative expression and technical skill development, the program empowers students with meaningful communication opportunities.
This grant from SEED represents a continued investment in student media production and educational technology, supporting innovative learning experiences at Dover High School.
